Ronnie Ortiz is a music teacher with a concentration Viola of Colombian nationality, born in Barranquilla, Atlántico. D.T. & I. He used to live in Cartagena de Indias, a city where he began his musical studies at the INEM middle and high school, being part of the youth symphony orchestra of that institution and city. Ortiz has performed as a violist and violinist in several national and international orchestras, and different musical groups such as the Philharmonic Orchestra of Cartagena de Indias, The Heroic Philharmonic Orchestra, Cartagena de Indias string quartet, the Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Virginia University Orchestra, William Carey University string ensemble, William Carey University String Quartet, Meridian Symphony Orchestra (substitute), Gulfport Symphony Orchestra (substitute), Mississippi State University orchestra, and four years as a coach 2018 – 2022 for the Hattiesburg Youth Orchestra.
Ronnie has attended masterclasses with different entities such as the BATTUTA music school, the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, the National University of Colombia, Cartagena international music festival, Guaranda Festival in Ecuador, and many private lessons in the USA among others. Ortiz has many different skills that he loves to bring to his lessons. He is an adaptive person and a dedicated teacher who is full of patience. Ronnie has experience working with kids as young as 3 years old as well as adults teaching violin, viola, piano, guitar, voice, and others. He is also fluent in both English and Spanish as well as ASL Intermediate.
Ronnie has a fun and charismatic personality and loves to engage with his students of all ages to make music fun and an enjoyable experience. A lifelong learner, Ronnie believes that the most profound way of learning is teaching and aims to share his love of music with his students.
