Tanya Pomirchy
Senior Property Manager, Alturas Capital Partners
“I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. Music has given me confidence, creativity, and the ability to remain steady under pressure.”
Tanya Pomirchy is a commercial real estate leader whose career spans hospitality, multifamily, and commercial properties. As Senior Property Manager at Alturas Capital Partners, she leads with integrity, transparency, and empathy, creating a workplace culture grounded in trust, learning, and support.
A lifelong vocalist, she sees music as a source of healing, confidence, and resilience. The presence, listening, and adaptability she has developed through singing shape how she leads under pressure, collaborates with others, and creates space for her team to contribute.
Tell us about your professional journey and what defines your work and leadership today. What motivates you in the role you hold and the field in which you operate?
My career has been rooted in real estate since the summer I turned 18, spanning hospitality, multifamily, and commercial spaces. Over the years, I’ve worked under many different leadership styles, and those experiences have shaped the leader I am today.
While not every experience was easy or positive, they taught me the importance of leading with integrity, transparency, and empathy. In my current role, I strive to create the kind of workplace I once needed: one built on trust, continuous learning, open-mindedness, and a culture where my team feels valued, supported, and excited to show up each day.
How has music been part of your life? When did it first enter your life, and how has it evolved over time—whether through playing an instrument, singing, composing, or other forms of musical practice?
I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. Music has always been a part of me, across all genres, and as a child I would record songs from the radio and write down the lyrics so I could sing along.
After losing my mom when I was 5 and my older sister when I was 7, music became more than something I loved; it became a source of healing, happiness, and survival. Though I only pursued it through high school choir and a worship team for a time, the dream never left me. Now, later in life, I’m finally able to pursue music professionally and have spent the past few years chasing that dream again.

Many leaders recognize that the skills developed through music extend far beyond the stage or rehearsal room. Learning and practicing music often strengthens qualities such as listening, discipline, collaboration, creative thinking, resilience, and the ability to perform under pressure—skills that are also essential in professional life. Looking back, how has music shaped the way you think, collaborate, innovate, or lead in your professional life?
Singing has given me confidence in my professional life in a non-traditional way. When colleagues learn it’s a passion of mine, I think it allows them to see me as more than a CRE professional; they see someone who understands that life can be unpredictable and that creativity is often needed when things don’t go as planned.
As a vocalist, so many outside factors can affect your health and performance, so learning to push through pressure and find solutions has shaped how I show up at work. One of the most consistent comments I’ve received in my career is that I work well under pressure, and I believe that kind of confidence can be contagious and motivating to others.
Can you recall a moment in your professional life when your experience with music helped you navigate a challenge, make a decision, collaborate with others, or unlock a creative solution?
One moment that comes to mind is less about a single performance and more about the way music has shaped how I show up in high-pressure situations. As a senior property manager, I often have to lead a team, communicate with ownership, support tenants, manage vendors, and make decisions when things don’t go exactly as planned. In those moments, I’ve realized that the same presence required as a vocalist also applies in leadership.
Even though I’ve only recently started performing more seriously, music has taught me how to stay calm when I’m in the spotlight, read the room, listen closely, and adjust in real time. When you are singing, you have to be aware of timing, tone, energy, and the people around you. That translates directly into managing a team and collaborating with others. Sometimes the best solution comes from slowing down, listening, and creating space for everyone to contribute.
In my professional life, I think that has helped me become someone people feel comfortable leaning on for guidance. Whether I’m helping my team through a challenge or advising colleagues in the industry, music has given me confidence, creativity, and the ability to remain steady under pressure. It has reminded me that leadership, like music, is not about controlling every variable. It is about being prepared, staying present, and knowing how to adapt when the moment calls for it.
What resonates with you about ETM-CO’s mission to ensure that music is part of every child’s education—especially in under-resourced schools—and why do you believe access to music from an early age matters for the next generation?
Music has saved my life in more ways than one. I did not have the most stable childhood and experienced hardships earlier than anyone should, but singing and music helped me hold onto hope, process loss, and find happiness when I needed it most. I truly don’t know where I would be without music in my life.
Knowing that students in under-resourced schools may also face difficult day-to-day realities makes this mission deeply personal to me. It resonates with me to my core.

And now, the most difficult question—one we often ask our students. What does music give you today that nothing else does?
Peace. I can escape the chaos of everyday life or create a more peaceful environment just trekking through it. I’ve never known peace like I do when I sing. It very literally elevates my spirit, and I would not have made it this far in life without it.
While music is the soundtrack to my life and maybe not every song has a sweet memory, those that do make it worth the journey.
